About Me

I always loved to learn by doing. I caught the bug for creating and tinkering early on, and growing up in the mountains and the East Bay Area allowed me plenty of time outside to hone my skills.  By high school, I was building trebuchets and fortresses out of wood with my friends, creating movies, and learning programming to make my own games—even my own versions of Guitar Hero.

I enrolled at UC Davis as a computer science major, but soon I developed a passion for education and switched majors and career paths. Since then, I have sought to bring the strength of experiential learning to all aspects of my teaching, whether for students or teachers.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy getting involved and getting my hands dirty, as evidenced by my love of backpacking, cooking, woodwork, music, and playing with my two children.
